Education Office Holds '18th Meeting with the Superintendent for Citizens'
Communicates with Members of Ulsan Youth Training Facilities Association
Cheon Chang-su, Superintendent of Education of Ulsan City, met with members of the Ulsan Youth Training Facilities Association to explore ways to collaborate on youth activities.
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education recently held the 18th "Superintendent Meeting with Citizens" event in the multipurpose room on the 3rd floor of the Ulsan Jung-gu Youth Center, attended by 19 members of the Ulsan Youth Training Facilities Association.
Youth training facilities are established based on the Youth Basic Act and the Promotion of Youth Activities Act, serving as community (village) hubs where young people can freely participate, gain diverse experiences, and grow. They offer a variety of programs such as hobby development, after-school programs, and autonomous activities, supporting youth to develop their potential and grow into healthy members of society.
At the event, representatives of the Ulsan Youth Training Facilities Association presented various opinions, including the need to promote youth training facility programs within the school curriculum, guidance on community institutions for supporting at-risk students, and ways to link career experience learning with schools.
One association representative attending the event said, “We want to introduce various programs of youth training facilities to schools, but we are facing difficulties due to a lack of communication channels with schools.”
In response, Superintendent Cheon said, “We are informing all elementary, middle, and high schools about external organizations’ programs through the K-Edufine work management system’s official document bulletin board, and we will seek more effective promotional methods.”
Regarding the linkage of community resources to support at-risk students, he said, “In April, we held the ‘Student Customized Integrated Support Small Expo,’ providing opportunities to communicate and cooperate with community-related organizations such as district and county family centers and youth counseling centers. We will strengthen cooperation with the community to further enhance customized support for at-risk students.”
On linking youth training facility programs with school career experience learning, he said, “We support schools in selecting necessary programs through the Dream Road website and encourage youth training facilities to register more programs.”
Finally, Superintendent Cheon stated, “Youth training facilities play an important role in providing diverse educational environments for our children and supporting community cultural activities. The Office of Education will actively support the revitalization of youth cultural activities.”
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education operates the “Superintendent Meeting with Citizens” every month, where the superintendent meets directly with citizens to explain Ulsan’s education policies and communicate on various educational issues.
Those wishing to participate in the “Superintendent Meeting with Citizens” event can fill out the application form available on the Office of Education’s website under “Superintendent Meeting with Citizens” and submit it via email.
