In April, the Office of Education signed a memorandum of understanding on educational exchange with Kazakhstan to promote the joint growth of multicultural and general students.
Additionally, since the second semester, native Kazakhstani assistant teachers have been assigned to schools with a high concentration of multicultural students in the Ansan area (2 elementary schools, 1 middle school) to support bilingual education and academic improvement.
The delegation from the Kazakhstan Ministry of Education will visit the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education on the 3rd to discuss △ achievements in educational exchange △ outcomes of native Kazakhstani assistant teachers' educational activities △ and the future of global cooperation.
The delegation will visit schools where native Kazakhstani assistant teachers are assigned to observe lessons on understanding Kazakhstani culture and bilingual education, and at the performance sharing meeting, they will discuss △ operational cases of schools with native assistant teachers △ multicultural education in Gyeonggi as viewed by native assistant teachers △ operational achievements of the Kazakhstani native assistant teacher program △ and directions for educational exchange with Kazakhstan.
Subsequently, at Ansan University, results from research on the Kazakhstani native assistant teacher program will be presented, showing that multicultural students’ learning comprehension and adaptability have improved, and that non-multicultural students’ multicultural sensitivity has significantly increased.
The Office of Education plans to continuously assign talented individuals from Kazakhstan to schools with high concentrations of multicultural students to lower language and cultural barriers and support students in gaining competitiveness in a global environment.
Kim Geum-sook, Director of the Convergence Education Bureau at the Office of Education, said, “The cooperation between the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education and Kazakhstan will present a new direction for multicultural education and establish a standard for global education,” adding, “We will do our best to cultivate students’ capabilities to thrive on the global stage.”
