Gwangju City announced on the 1st that it will publicly recruit a private consignment organization to operate the Labor Rights Center for the protection and promotion of workers' rights by the 10th.

Until now, the city has operated three labor-related centers separately according to worker types: the Labor Center, the Non-regular Workers Support Center, and the Youth Human Rights Labor Center. However, issues such as overlapping tasks and inefficient budget management were pointed out, leading to the decision to integrate operations to resolve these problems.

Accordingly, the 'Labor Rights Center' was launched through the integration of the existing three labor centers and the restructuring of organization and tasks. This recruitment is a measure to entrust the operation to a professional and network-rich private institution or organization to ensure the expertise, stable organizational management, and solidarity and cooperation of the integrated labor human rights center.

Applicants must be nonprofit corporations or organizations that have their main office in Gwangju as of the announcement date and have experience in labor-related projects within the last three years. If selected as the consignment organization, they will operate the Labor Rights Center for three years from January 1, next year, to December 31, 2027.

Corporations or organizations wishing to apply can check the qualifications and other details on Gwangju City's website under notices and announcements, then visit the Labor and Job Policy Office's Labor-Management Cooperation Team on December 9-10 to submit the application documents. The city plans to hold a selection committee meeting in December to choose the operator.

Shin Chang-ho, Director of Labor and Job Policy, said, "The Labor Rights Center will inherit the strengths of the existing three labor centers while maximizing efficiency and will become a key institution providing services that workers truly need. We look forward to the active participation of institutions and organizations with expertise and passion."
