The Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters conducted an on-site safety management inspection on the 29th of last month at POSCO Co., Ltd., where a series of fires have recently occurred, to prevent fire recurrence.


POSCO experienced four fires this year, including a fire caused by mechanical factors on November 10 and a fire caused by human negligence on May 2.

The on-site safety management inspection held that day was attended by Park Seong-yeol, Chief of the Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters, who directly commanded the fire scene on November 10, Ryu Deuk-gon, Chief of the Pohang South Fire Station, and officials from the Pohang South Fire Station.


The main inspection contents included checking how POSCO prepares for and responds to fires, sharing information on fire characteristics and risk levels, listening to measures to prevent fire recurrence, and providing related consulting.


Park Seong-yeol, Chief of the Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters, said, “POSCO is a world-class steel company responsible for national infrastructure and a very important facility,” and added, “We ask POSCO employees for their interest and attention to fire and disaster prevention.”
