Kim Seong-jung, Gyeonggi Deputy Governor, Visits Snowstorm-Damaged Yongin and Gwangmyeong to Encourage Disaster Victims


Kim Seong-jung, the First Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province, visited the sites in Yongin City and Gwangmyeong City, which suffered damage from the record-breaking heavy snowfall over two days from the 29th to the 30th, to inspect the recovery situation and comfort evacuees.


On the afternoon of the 29th, Deputy Governor Kim visited Pungdeokcheon 1-dong in Suji-gu, Yongin City, to assess the damage and encouraged the administrative welfare center staff who were clearing snow from the sidewalks, expressing his gratitude. Then, on the 30th, he visited Gwangmyeong City to inspect vinyl greenhouses at risk of collapse, and after that, he comforted the disaster victims who were evacuated to safety housing prepared by the city and delivered consolation goods. In Gwangmyeong City, 5 people from 4 households are currently residing in safety housing to avoid collapse risks.

Deputy Governor Kim said, "Gyeonggi Province plans to do its best to support early recovery to normal life by closely cooperating with cities and counties for residents affected by the unexpected heavy snowfall."


Gyeonggi Province is providing 7.35 billion KRW from the disaster management fund to 31 cities and counties within the province for snow removal work and emergency recovery, to be used for equipment and supplies support. In addition, a disaster relief fund of 800 million KRW will be provided to approximately 15,000 people, including disaster victims, temporary evacuees, and power outage victims caused by the heavy snowfall.
