Damyang County announced on the 30th that it signed business agreements for the 'overseas cultivation' of Damyang-developed strawberries in Plevobery, the Netherlands, and Angers, France, on the 27th and 29th, respectively.
The agreement signed between Damyang County and Plevobery, the Netherlands, was made to collaborate on maintaining the strawberry varieties developed in Damyang and breeding new strawberry varieties following the expiration of the previous business agreement. Additionally, a business agreement was signed with Angers, France, to supply seedlings to locations wishing to cultivate Damyang strawberries.
Through this agreement, the county will receive mother strawberry plants from Plevobery, raise seedlings in Angers, and establish a network to supply them to cultivation sites in Europe, Africa, and other regions. Since strawberry seedlings will be sold in Angers, royalties will be paid to Damyang County.
The county plans to first proceed with strawberry seedling cultivation through Angers and supply Damyang strawberries to a 1-hectare farm of the Black Tulip Group in Kenya, which signed a business agreement with Damyang County, in the second half of next year.
County Governor Lee Byeong-no emphasized, "Building on this business agreement, we will establish an overseas network that can supply seedlings anytime to locations wishing to cultivate Damyang strawberries and promote premium Damyang strawberries worldwide."
