Deputy District Mayor Lee Gye-ryeol Supports Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo-gu in the 8th Term, Backing Key Projects and Communicating Well with Staff, Receiving Positive Reviews Before Year-End Public Service Conclusion
Lee Gye-yeol, Deputy Mayor of Mapo-gu, who was promoted to Grade 3 Deputy Mayor of Mapo-gu on January 1, 2023, after serving as the General Affairs Director of Seoul City, is completing his two-year term.
After graduating from the University of Seoul, he entered Seoul City as a Grade 7 public official, served as the Director of the City Council Media and Public Relations Office, Legislative Affairs Officer, and City Audit Officer, and then was promoted to Grade 3 (Director) while serving as the General Affairs Director, his third department head position.
He then moved to become the Deputy Mayor of Mapo-gu, where he diligently supported Mayor Park Gang-su for two years, backing key projects such as the creation of the Hongdae Red Road, one of Mayor Park’s priority initiatives.
As Deputy Mayor Lee enters his year-end retirement, senior officials within the district office have given him high praise, drawing attention.
Song In-su, Director of the Transportation and Construction Bureau, said, “Deputy Mayor Lee Gye-yeol has been a virtuous leader who has faithfully supported Mayor Park Gang-su and worked hard for the development of the district administration.” He added, “He especially valued communication with employees, dedicating himself to organizational harmony and the promotion of work.” He also said, “Because of these efforts, he has earned trust and respect from Mayor Park and the staff.”
Park Sang-su, Director of the Tourism and Economy Bureau, said, “Above all, he stood out for his communication with employees and consideration for others.” He added, “I have never seen him get angry even once. He meticulously managed his work, so it is regrettable that he is entering year-end retirement.”

Nam Seon-ok, Head of Gongdeok-dong, evaluated, “He helped successfully promote various core projects and campaign promises that reflect Mayor Park Gang-su’s governance philosophy of the 8th term, resulting in Mapo-gu receiving a high evaluation as the ‘No. 1 happiest autonomous district’ among Seoul’s autonomous districts in the 2023 Seoul Survey.” She also said, “Above all, he communicated with department heads and staff, showing gentle leadership, and will be remembered as a rare manager.”
Kwon Yoon-young, Director of the Senior Citizens Accompaniment Division, said, “He assisted the proactive Mayor Park Gang-su and quietly and meticulously managed the district office’s affairs.”
Lee Gi-yeon, Head of the Public Relations Team, said, “He treated employees kindly and embraced them like a mother.”
In this way, key executives highly evaluate Deputy Mayor Lee, and he himself shows a very happy expression.
Recently, Deputy Mayor Lee said, “I am very happy to be able to conclude my public service as Deputy Mayor of Mapo-gu,” and added, “I want to continue communication by creating gatherings with good people.”
