"Only 43 Taxi Rides a Month, So Annoying"... Pro Gamer Loses 7 Million Won After Losing Card

Lost Card Used by Someone for Over a Year
"Too Outrageous to Ignore... Reported to Police"

Former League of Legends pro gamer ‘Flame’ Lee Ho-jong revealed that someone used his lost card to spend about 7 million KRW over the course of a year.

On the 27th, Lee uploaded a video titled “Someone used my lost card for a year” on his YouTube channel.

According to the video, he recently checked his bank account and discovered strange transactions that he did not make.

Lee said, “At 2:11 AM on the 21st, I was sleeping, but a taxi fare was charged. Later that day at 2 PM, I was streaming, yet another taxi fare was recorded as deducted.”

He added, “Something similar happened before, so I had all my cards suspended. Also, two weeks ago, I made a new card and had all the others suspended by the bank, so this situation doesn’t make sense.”

After closely examining the cards linked to the account, Lee found out that someone had been using his card for over a year.

Upon investigation, it was found that on September 20th of last year, someone used his card to ride the subway, and card usage started a few hours later. This card was used continuously until the most recent date Lee checked, the 21st.

Lee lamented, “Looking at the taxi ride history, the drop-off locations were always fixed, and they even lived close to me. It seems they deliberately used someone else’s card to take taxis. They took taxis 43 times a month.”

He said, “Anyone would know they would definitely get caught, so I don’t understand what they were thinking. It seems they’re not in their right mind. I wanted to forgive them, but it’s so outrageous that I can’t just let it go.”

He reported the incident to the police, and the investigating officer reviewed taxi and bus black boxes as well as CCTV footage around the drop-off locations. Later, they identified the suspect, presumed to be a student, from the bus black box footage, and Lee said they are preparing to send an official letter to the school.

Lee said, “It turns out I didn’t report the card lost for a year. Since it was linked to an account I don’t use, I didn’t know. The estimated damage amount is about 7 million KRW.”

Finally, he emphasized, “Because of my negligence, it seems difficult to get compensation from the card company, so realistically, I will pursue civil and criminal actions against the culprit. I hope no one else experiences what happened to me.”
