On this day, the New York stock market ended trading early at 1 p.m. (Eastern Time) due to Black Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.42% (188.59 points) from the previous session to close at 44,910.65.
Additionally, the Standard & Poor's (S&P) 500 index rose 0.56% (33.64 points) to 6,032.38, and the Nasdaq index increased 0.83% (157.69 points) to 19,218.17. Both the Dow and S&P 500 indices closed at record highs.
Overall, semiconductor-related stocks led the strong market. NVIDIA rose 2.15% on the day, and Lam Research increased by 3.23%. The decline in Treasury yields also contributed to the market strength. The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield fell by 7 basis points (1bp = 0.01 percentage points) to 4.18% near the market close.
