"Han Representative's Family Name Posts, Average 2 Per Day"
"Additional Individuals to Be Reported Upon Investigation Agency's Judgment"
The People Power Party announced that it will file a complaint with the police against YouTuber Lee Mo, who first raised suspicions about the 'party member bulletin board.'
Joo Jin-woo, the party's legal advisory committee chairman, stated on the 29th through a press release that YouTuber Lee Mo will be reported for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc. (defamation).
According to Representative Joo, Lee is accused of spreading false information that Party Leader Han Dong-hoon himself wrote posts containing extreme expressions such as 'commit suicide' and 'dog leash,' despite it being revealed that these posts were written by a party member with the same name unrelated to Leader Han's family.
Representative Joo explained, "In particular, posts written under the name of Leader Han's family account for only 907 out of a total of 530,000 posts on the party member bulletin board (an average of 2 posts per day). Claims about public opinion manipulation, public opinion formation teams, or comment teams are all clear falsehoods." He added, "While it is possible that comments from portal sites or community posts were copied and posted on the party member bulletin board or vice versa, the number is too small, and considering the timing and content of the posts, it cannot be said that public opinion was manipulated."
Representative Joo emphasized, "Lee has continuously and habitually spread false information about Leader Han beyond the false statements related to the party member bulletin board, profiting from 'Super Chat money-making,' so all malicious behaviors have been included in the complaint."
Representative Joo considers statements by Lee such as "Leader Han operated a comment team" and "Leader Han's public opinion formation team colluded with portals and the media" to be false information. He added, "There were many other panelists and YouTubers who spread similar false information, but considering that filing complaints against all would result in too many subjects and hinder swift investigation, we are prioritizing filing against the original disseminator, Lee."
Furthermore, Representative Joo stated, "If a prompt investigation leads to prosecution or other decisions by investigative agencies, we will additionally file complaints against others who maliciously and repeatedly spread false information based on those findings." The People Power Party plans to file a complaint against Lee at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on the 2nd of next month.
