This project is being implemented at three cafes located in the Yangsan City Hall Civil Service Office cafe, the Business Center, and the Uangsang Branch Office. It focuses on creating an eco-friendly culture by establishing a reusable cup circulation system. When using the Yangsan e-Cup, carbon neutrality points worth approximately 300 KRW per drink are accumulated.
To use the Yangsan e-Cup, users must install the ‘E-Cup’ application on their smartphones and sign up as members. Then, when ordering a drink, scanning the QR code at the rental station allows them to receive a Yangsan e-Cup.
Used cups can be returned to collection boxes provided at partner cafes. The collected cups are hygienically cleaned and managed by a local specialized social enterprise.
Yangsan City plans to continuously improve the system through this pilot project and gradually expand the use of Yangsan e-Cups, focusing on cafes located in public institutions.
A Yangsan City official stated, “We will gradually increase the number of Yangsan e-Cup cafes and create an environment where citizens can easily use reusable cups,” adding, “We hope that citizens visiting the city hall will actively use the Yangsan e-Cup.”
