Living 'Allosaurus' Arrives at Haenam Dinosaur Museum

Enjoy Exhibition and Experience While Viewing Genuine Fossils

Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 29th that a digital video exhibition facility has been installed at the Dinosaur Museum, allowing visitors to vividly experience the Jurassic carnivorous dinosaur star Allosaurus.

The digital exhibition space, built on the basement first floor dinosaur room organized by era, is installed next to the Allosaurus fossil display case, enabling visitors to view both fossils and videos simultaneously. In particular, the Allosaurus fossil exhibited at Haenam Dinosaur Museum is the only genuine skeleton fossil in Korea and is considered the most popular exhibit among the dinosaur fossils in the exhibition hall.

The LED screen, measuring 5 meters wide and 10 meters high, is the largest scale among museums in the Honam region, and it screens three immersive digital videos of about 5 minutes each, allowing visitors to experience the dinosaur era when Allosaurus lived.

Visitors can meet the resurrected Allosaurus right in front of the exhibited genuine fossil and feel a unique impression through vivid stories of fierce survival competition with herbivorous dinosaurs such as Stegosaurus and Brachiosaurus, as well as changes in nature.

Haenam Dinosaur Museum is the largest dinosaur museum in Korea with great academic value, holding both national natural heritage and nationally important scientific and technological materials. Until now, it has focused on developing content to enjoy various digital experiences and exhibitions beyond just viewing fossils.

This year, it was selected for the ‘Experience-type Tourism Convergence Content Development Support Project’ organized by the Jeonnam Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency, and established a digital exhibition space utilizing the Allosaurus fossil.

A county official said, “This will be an opportunity to present special content that can only be seen at Haenam Dinosaur Museum to visitors,” and added, “We will continue to introduce content to become an advanced museum leading the future.”
