Korea Accounting Standards Board Holds Seminar on Supporting Implementation and Capacity Building for Sustainability Disclosure Standards

The Korea Accounting Standards Board announced on the 29th that “the seminar on Sustainability Disclosure Standards (KSSB Standards), co-hosted with the Korean Accounting Association, was successfully concluded.” This event was organized to enhance domestic companies' understanding of the KSSB Standards and strengthen their disclosure capabilities, with about 300 stakeholders attending.

The first part of the seminar focused on supporting the implementation of the KSSB Standards. The Korea Accounting Standards Board introduced measures to assist companies in more efficiently implementing the disclosure standards by releasing ▲educational materials on judgments regarding important information and ▲a draft of KSSB disclosure standards application cases. The second part discussed preliminary research results and expert training plans aimed at resolving practical challenges related to the application of the KSSB Standards.

During the panel discussion, companies, academia, law firms, and related organizations jointly discussed cases of applying the disclosure standards and practical issues. In particular, they proposed specific support measures for difficulties faced by companies and emphasized the need for substantial capacity building.

The Korea Accounting Standards Board stated, “We hope that this seminar will enable domestic stakeholders to provide sustainability disclosure information more reliably,” and added, “We plan to continuously carry out activities to support the implementation of disclosure standards and strengthen capabilities in the future.”
