Kakao Games has unveiled its highly anticipated title, 'Path of Exile 2.'
On the 29th, Kakao Games held a domestic media briefing for Path of Exile 2, developed by Grinding Gear Games.
Han Sang-woo, CEO of Kakao Games, stated, "'Path of Exile' is one of the global intellectual properties (IP) recognized worldwide, including in Korea, as it has recently set new peak concurrent user records despite being released 11 years ago following new seasons and content updates. Since 2019, we have been operating the Korean service of Path of Exile in partnership with Grinding Gear Games, which has allowed us to enhance our mature live service experience."
He added, "Based on this, we have developed and provided services for a blockbuster game that meets the expectations and standards of the global PC and console game markets. We believe this has laid the foundation to continuously explore cooperation with excellent overseas developers regarding Korean services, based on successful cases like Path of Exile."
Han also said, "Leveraging the know-how and experience accumulated through the collaboration between Kakao Games and Grinding Gear Games, we will strive to offer differentiated services for domestic users. We plan to jointly pursue strategies such as new title publishing and live service enhancement for Korean gamers."
Kim Sang-gu, Head of Business at Kakao Games, introduced the business strategy ahead of the early access scheduled for the 7th of next month. Kakao Games will be responsible for the domestic PC and console services of Path of Exile 2. During the early access period, free play will be supported at PC bangs. Additionally, they will produce game video guides and Korean build guides to help users more conveniently develop their characters, thereby expanding accessibility and popularity.
Jonathan Rogers, Head of Development at Grinding Gear Games, also participated in the event to demonstrate and introduce the content.
Kakao Games announced various promotions for domestic users. A pre-event will be held the day before early access. From the 7th to the 8th, streamer open-run events and open-run events open to all users are planned.
Path of Exile 2 adds the control fun of action role-playing games (RPG) to the hack-and-slash nature of its predecessor, Path of Exile. It features 6 campaigns, 100 unique environments, over 600 monsters, and 100 bosses. Users can choose and develop one of 12 classes, each with 3 advanced subclasses, totaling 36 advanced subclasses.
Furthermore, both Path of Exile and Path of Exile 2 will continuously receive separate expansion packs. In-game purchase histories will be shared between the two games.
