The Busan Institute of Science and Technology Promotion (BISTEP) held the "2024 Southeast Region Metropolitan Connection-type Cooperation Council Performance Sharing Seminar" at the Busan Asti Hotel on the 27th.
This seminar was organized as an opportunity for the research and development support groups from Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam to share the results of R&D projects utilizing regional capabilities.

The Southeast Region Metropolitan Connection-type Cooperation Council has established a joint platform where local research institutes, universities, and companies can participate to share issues related to science, technology, and industry. Each year, it selects cooperation fields reflecting the characteristics and strengths of each region.
This year, eco-friendly ships and AI manufacturing were selected as the main cooperation fields, and a related R&D project discovery report was produced. Through this seminar, joint research and analysis on eco-friendly ships were discussed.
The Southeast Region Metropolitan Connection-type Cooperation Council has been operated for two years with BISTEP, designated as the leading research and development support group, at its center, cooperating with the Ulsan and Gyeongnam research support groups to integrate the science, technology, and industrial capabilities of the Southeast region and aim for regional science industry innovation. The council operates by focusing on researchers in the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam area to discover R&D projects by maximizing the use of each region’s specialized technologies, research personnel, and equipment resources, linking them to project planning.
In addition, systematic technical investigations and analyses are conducted on cooperation fields linked to R&D project discovery. Through this, it supports project discovery and planning reflecting the strengths and weaknesses of Southeast region science and technology, and it is expected to be used as important data in future R&D project planning reports.
Kim Young-bu, Director of BISTEP, stated, “The government is promoting a balanced development policy emphasizing region-led growth,” and added, “In line with this trend of change, BISTEP will strive to present and develop a new cooperation model combining the strengths of the Southeast region.”
