This regional council was organized to discuss ways to revitalize settlement support through public-private cooperation to help North Korean defectors in the area settle stably.
Ten regional council members, including heads of related organizations involved in supporting the settlement of North Korean defectors in the area, attended to review the achievements of each organization's second half support projects and discuss plans for next year's support projects.
They also exchanged in-depth opinions on various cooperation measures for social integration and coexistence.
Han Sang-gyu, Director of the Autonomous Administration Bureau and chairman of the council, said, "The support project for North Korean defectors' settlement is an important task that goes beyond mere material support to help integration with the local community and self-reliance," adding, "We will prepare practical and effective support measures reflecting the voices of the residents."
The city plans to continue working with private and public institutions to ensure that North Korean defectors can establish themselves as proud members of the local community through settlement support projects.
