Insufficient Evidence to Prove Charges
The police have decided not to prosecute and have closed the case against Choi Min-hwan, the drummer of the band FT Island, who was accused of visiting prostitution establishments and forcibly molesting his ex-wife.
On the 29th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced that they made the decision not to prosecute, judging that there was insufficient evidence to prove Choi's violation of the Act on the Punishment of Acts of Arranging Sexual Traffic and the charge of forcible molestation.
Earlier, Yulhee, a former member of the girl group Laboum, raised suspicions on YouTube on the 24th of last month that her ex-husband Choi had frequented entertainment establishments. She also claimed that Choi made inappropriate physical contact with her.
As the controversy spread, Choi announced a suspension of his activities. The police received complaints through the National Police Agency's online civil petition system and began investigating the allegations of prostitution against Choi on the 25th of last month.
The accuser requested the investigation, stating, "We strongly urge a thorough investigation into Choi and the intermediary who arranged the prostitution, and if criminal charges are found, they should be strictly punished."
