Mayor Kim Kyung-il: "We will do our best to prevent malaria to protect the health and safety of citizens"
On the 29th, Paju Public Health Center in Gyeonggi announced that it received the Commissioner of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) Award at the ‘2024 Malaria Eradication Project Evaluation Meeting’ hosted by the KDCA on the 26th, recognizing its outstanding achievements in malaria prevention and management.

This evaluation meeting was held for the first time this year to identify and reward institutions and individuals who contributed to the malaria eradication project, encourage them, and share local governments’ project outcomes to ensure the effective implementation of next year’s malaria eradication efforts.
Paju Public Health Center was honored as the first recipient of the KDCA Commissioner Award in recognition of its contributions to various projects aimed at preventing malaria transmission within the community, including thorough patient management, tailored control measures based on regional characteristics, strengthened residual spraying in infection risk areas, and promotion through diverse media channels.
In particular, Paju Public Health Center was recognized for its active efforts and achievements in malaria eradication by promoting specialized projects unique to Paju City based on continuous cooperation with related organizations, such as △producing and distributing a repellent guideline for military units to reduce military patients △expanding the application of residual spraying methods to military units △supporting preventive supplies and internal advertising in taxis within the jurisdiction △large screen advertisements at Gyeongui Line railway stations △and expanding local malaria diagnostic institutions (from 44 to 58 locations).
Kim Kyung-il, Mayor of Paju City, said, “This award is not only due to the efforts of our staff but also thanks to the active participation of citizens in education and adherence to prevention guidelines,” adding, “Paju City will do its best to prevent and manage malaria to protect the health and safety of its citizens.”
