Mokpo National University and Suncheon National University Jointly Promote Preliminary Accreditation Application for Medical Schools

Expectations Grow for Establishing a Medical School in Jeonnam to Improve Healthcare Standards

Mokpo National University (President Song Ha-cheol) and Suncheon National University (President Lee Byung-woon) have applied for the preliminary evaluation certification for the establishment of a medical school.

According to Mokpo National University on the 29th, Presidents Song Ha-cheol and Lee Byung-woon personally visited the Korea Institute of Medical Education and Evaluation (KIMEE) to submit an official document. The two universities agreed on the 15th with the goal of strengthening regional medical infrastructure and improving medical welfare, and launched a joint university integration promotion committee.

Presidents Song Ha-cheol and Lee Byung-woon stated, "The application for preliminary evaluation certification of the medical school is an important starting point," and added, "Through integration, we will leap forward as a top-tier and ultra-glocal university."

They further stated, "The establishment of the medical school is a crucial task for the development of the Jeonnam medical system and the expansion of public healthcare, and we expect full support and cooperation from the government and local communities."

If this integration is successfully achieved, it is anticipated that residents of the Jeonnam region will have greater opportunities to access specialized medical services, and both universities are expected to receive high evaluations domestically and internationally through the establishment and certification of the medical school.
