Yanggu Gobangsan-ri~Dosari Connected Hakryeong Tunnel to Open on the 29th

Completion of Local Road No. 460 'Dongseo Green Peace Road Construction'

Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Jin-tae) announced on the 29th that the 'East-West Green Peace Road (Yanggu Gobangsan District) construction project' on Local Road No. 460, connecting Gobangsan-ri, Bangsan-myeon, Yanggu-gun and Dosa-ri, Yanggu-eup, has been completed, and the Hakryeong Tunnel is now fully open.

This project, which started in 2018 and took six years with a total investment of 47.4 billion KRW, involved the construction of a 2.7 km long, two-lane road including the 845 m Hakryeong Tunnel.

The opening of the Hakryeong Tunnel is expected to greatly improve safety by preventing various accidents caused by the steep slopes and sharp curves of the mountainous terrain, and especially to alleviate the difficulties faced by local residents and tourists in vehicle operation during heavy snowfall in winter.

Furthermore, the completion of this road is expected to partially resolve the challenges of balanced regional development, such as military area restrictions characteristic of the border areas in Gangwon Province, and significantly contribute to the economic development of the Yanggu region through the expansion of connected road networks.

Choi Bong-yong, Director of the Gangwon Province Construction and Transportation Bureau, stated, "We will continue to do our best to expand the road network so that all areas within Gangwon Province, including border areas, are well connected to facilitate the movement of local residents and tourists."
