"Suffered Acid Reflux and Insomnia... Respect Trump"

An American journalist reportedly experienced a decline in health after following the diet of President-elect Donald Trump, drawing public attention. The British Daily Mail reported on the 26th (local time) the story of its reporter Luke Andrews, who personally tried out Trump’s diet for a day. President-elect Trump is known to start his day at 9 a.m. with ‘Diet Coke,’ have ‘steak smothered in ketchup’ for lunch, and finish the day with ‘two hamburgers’ and a ‘chocolate shake.’ Following his diet, others have also begun to imitate his eating habits.

Andrews said, “I am writing this while battling a throbbing headache with Tylenol and a bottle of water by my side,” adding, “I initially planned to try it for a week, but I became curious about how just one day of this diet would affect my health.”

Andrews detailed the foods he consumed during the day. Around 10 a.m., he ate a bag of Doritos Cool Ranch flavor and drank two glasses of Diet Coke. Although he felt full immediately after eating, the fullness wore off after about an hour.

For lunch, he ate a well-cooked steak with ketchup, known to be Trump’s favorite lunch meal. He said, “Although Trump said it was his favorite combination, the sweetness of the ketchup made it difficult to eat.”

Dinner, served around 6:30 p.m., consisted of two McDonald’s hamburgers: a Big Mac and two Filet-O-Fish sandwiches, during which he continuously drank Diet Coke. He consumed a total of seven cans of Diet Coke that day, amounting to 322 mg of caffeine.

After filling his stomach with foods known to be Trump’s favorites throughout the day, Andrews experienced severe acid reflux. He also could not fall asleep at his usual time. Andrews said, “I lay in bed around 10 p.m. and tried meditating for 30 minutes but couldn’t fall asleep. It wasn’t until the clock pointed to 3 a.m. that I finally fell asleep,” adding, “This is likely related to my intake of 6,800 mg of sodium, which is three times the daily recommended amount.” Excessive sodium intake before bedtime can cause sleep disturbances.

He concluded, “In fact, I have developed a new respect for Trump, who reportedly consumes multiple McDonald’s hamburgers, candy, snacks, milkshakes, and up to 12 cans of Diet Coke in a single day.”
