Dobong-gu Human Rights Week Event in Progress... First-Come, First-Served Registration for 300 Participants Until December 10
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) will hold a special lecture by a distinguished speaker on December 10th at 3 PM in the Seoninbong Hall on the 2nd floor of Dobong-gu Office to commemorate Human Rights Day (December 10th).
The special lecture will feature Choi Tae-sung, known as the ‘Big Star Teacher.’ Choi Tae-sung is a leading Korean history instructor who explains Korean history in an easy-to-understand manner through various broadcasts such as KBS 1TV's 'History Journal That Day' and tvN's 'Naked Korean History.'
In the lecture, Choi Tae-sung will speak on the theme of 'Stories of Human Rights in History,' sharing stories of historical figures who overcame human rights blind spots and the lessons we should learn from their activities today.
The lecture is free and open to everyone. Applications can be made on the Dobong-gu website, and registration is limited to the first 300 applicants by December 10th.
Before the special lecture, a Human Rights Week commemorative ceremony will be held. The ceremony will include awarding winners of the human rights artwork contest and presenting commendations to human rights contributors. On the day of the ceremony, a human rights experience booth will be operated in front of Seoninbong Hall on the 2nd floor.
On the 1st floor lobby of Dobong-gu Office, artworks selected through the human rights contest will be exhibited. The exhibition features 13 drawings by lower-grade students, 4 drawings by upper-grade students, 7 works in the poetry category, 4 in the card news category, as well as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The exhibition began on November 25th and will run only until that day.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “I hope this special lecture will serve as an opportunity to raise interest and understanding of human rights. We ask for active participation from those interested.” He added, “We will do our best to prepare related education and programs to promote a transformation in human rights awareness based on mutual respect and trust.”
