8:30 PM, Emergency Press Conference at an Undisclosed Location in Gangnam-gu
HYBE Also Unaware of the Conference... Possible Mention of Exclusive Contract Termination
Group NewJeans will hold an emergency press conference regarding the termination of their exclusive contract.
NewJeans stated in an official position, "Today (28th) at 8:30 PM, we will hold an emergency press conference concerning the termination of the exclusive contract."
The conference is scheduled to take place at a location in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
Earlier, on the 13th, NewJeans sent a certified letter to Adore in the real names of the five members: Kim Minji, Hani Pham, Marshmello Daniel, Kang Haerin, and Lee Hyein.
In the certified letter, the NewJeans members stated, "Within 14 days from the date of receipt of this letter, please rectify all serious violations of the exclusive contract mentioned herein," and added, "If the rectification request is not accepted, we will terminate the exclusive contract."
Additionally, the NewJeans members pointed out, "Regarding HYBE (Adore's parent company) deciding that 'it’s a matter of abandoning New (referring to NewJeans) and reorganizing anew,' take all necessary measures as NewJeans' management company," and noted, "Among HYBE’s music industry reports (internal monitoring documents) confirmed during the recent National Assembly audit, there was a phrase saying, 'We suffered for days over the Newar (NewJeans, I-LAND, LE SSERAFIM) wording, but it’s a matter of abandoning New and reorganizing anew.'"
They continued, "Please clearly identify who decided and ordered to abandon NewJeans, Adore’s only artist, who committed what misconduct according to that order, and take civil and criminal actions against any illegal acts such as breach of trust discovered in the process," and demanded, "Prepare and provide NewJeans with an audit report and a report on personnel actions related to all these matters."
Furthermore, NewJeans urged Adore to provide △ an official apology from the manager who told Hani to 'ignore it' △ deletion of videos and photos used without consent △ identification and resolution of damages caused to NewJeans by 'album pushing' △ resolution of disputes with director Shin Woo-seok of Dolphin Kidnapping Gang and the issue of existing works disappearing △ protection of NewJeans’ unique color and works △ reinstatement of former CEO Min Hee-jin.
However, former CEO Min had already resigned from her position as an inside director of Adore and left HYBE.
Adore had filed a complaint with Belift Lab, the same HYBE label, on the 27th regarding bullying allegations against NewJeans member Hani, but ultimately NewJeans chose to terminate their exclusive contract.
