Assemblyman Ahn Hyeong-ju of Seo-gu Council in Gwangju (Sangmu 2-dong, Seochang-dong, Geumho 1·2-dong) proposed the "Ordinance on Disaster Prevention and Support for Safety Culture Activities" at the 327th 2nd Regular Meeting, which was approved as originally proposed by the relevant standing committee.
The ordinance was prepared in accordance with Article 4 and Article 66-4 of the "Framework Act on the Management of Disasters and Safety" to prevent disasters and various accidents in the local community through disaster prevention and safety culture activities, and to contribute to the promotion and establishment of a safety culture in the region.
The main contents define terms related to safety culture activities and private organizations in Article 2, specify the responsibilities of the district mayor and private organizations in Articles 3 and 4, outline support projects in Article 5, set the requirements for private organizations in Article 6, and regulate the application and disbursement methods for subsidies in Article 7.
Assemblyman Ahn Hyeong-ju pointed out, "Safety accidents caused by safety negligence continue, and the local residents bear the brunt of the damage," adding, "I hope that the enactment of this ordinance will help protect the lives and property of Seo-gu residents and raise safety awareness."
