'K-Nuclear Power Export Industry in One Place'... 'NES2024' Opens on the 3rd of Next Month

The Korea Nuclear Power Export Industry Association (KNA) announced that it will hold the international nuclear power export and safety exhibition, 'Nuclear Export and Safety Expo (NES 2024),' together with Gyeongju Hwabaek Convention Center for three days from December 3 to 5.


This year's NES 2024 event will consist of 160 exhibition booths, 30 overseas nuclear power companies, and 21 conferences and programs. Companies representing all fields of nuclear power, including nuclear power maintenance and safety, nuclear power construction, nuclear power generation equipment, nuclear power design and research, nuclear power decommissioning, and major nuclear power institutions, will participate. Key domestic companies in nuclear power design, procurement, and construction such as Korea Electric Power Corporation, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, Doosan Enerbility, Hyundai Engineering & Construction, Daewoo Engineering & Construction, and Samsung C&T are also planning to participate.

The export consultation meeting is expected to include buyers from 30 companies in 15 countries, including 7 energy companies from Turkey, 2 partner companies of Czech Power Company (CEZ) related to the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant in the Czech Republic, and 3 companies including Nawah Energy from the United Arab Emirates' Barakah.


On the morning of the first day of the exhibition, December 3, the Global Nuclear Trends Conference will feature presentations on the status of nuclear power introduction by country, international nuclear power finance trends and cases, and advanced nuclear fuel technology and policy trends. At the same time, the Korean Nuclear Society Policy Workshop and the Korean Nuclear Material Management Society General Assembly will also be held. In the afternoon of the 3rd, two sessions on cooperation between the nuclear power industries of Korea and the United States will take place.


On the morning of the 4th, the World Nuclear Cities Summit (WNCS) will be attended by the mayor delegation of Trebic City, the Dukovany nuclear power plant region in the Czech Republic, and the president delegation of TUNAS, the Turkish state-owned nuclear power company. On the same day, under the chairmanship of Han Dohee, Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), presentations will introduce Korea's innovative SMR (iSMR), Bandi, SMART100, and related personnel from Canada’s ARC and AtkinsRealis Nuclear will gather to present the status of SMR technology development and cooperation.


On the afternoon of the 4th, the country-specific nuclear power status session will have representatives from nine countries including France, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Turkey, and Kazakhstan sharing information on nuclear power issues, energy policies, and future plans.


During the event, to support employment for nuclear power major students, HR managers from various companies will provide recruitment consulting at each company's exhibition booth. Major companies such as Korea Electric Power Corporation, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, Doosan Enerbility, Korea Electric Power Technology, KEPCO KPS, Hyundai, Daewoo, and Samsung will participate.


The Korea Nuclear Power Export Industry Association was established in 2011 with the participation of electric power public enterprises, nuclear power equipment manufacturers, and construction companies to promote various support projects necessary for pioneering overseas nuclear power export markets. In 2020, it was designated as a nuclear power export promotion organization by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
