Domestic Ad-Supported VOD Service Starts from the 7th Next Month
First Case of New Drama Airing on FAST Platform
The drama 'Okssi Buinjeon' will be available as an ad-supported VOD on the LG Channel starting next month.
Content producer SLL (SLL Joongang) announced on the 28th that the drama 'Okssi Buinjeon' will be offered on the LG Channel, accessible through LG Electronics' smart TVs. The LG Channel is a FAST (Free Ad-supported Streaming TV) platform operated by LG Electronics.
'Okssi Buinjeon' is a weekend drama premiering on JTBC on the 30th, and this supply contract with the LG Channel marks the first case of a new domestic drama being available on a FAST platform before its TV broadcast concludes.
On the LG Channel, 'Okssi Buinjeon' will be offered as an ad-supported VOD starting from the 7th of next month, following a one-week holdback period (exclusive airing period on a specific platform or channel).
An SLL representative stated, "This service is an innovative attempt as it allows viewers to watch at their preferred time, similar to online video streaming services (OTT), and it features a new drama that is gaining attention in the market."
The LG Channel is a FAST service installed on approximately 220 million LG smart TVs worldwide, providing over 3,800 channels for free across 29 countries.
Park Chang-sung, Head of Content Business Division at SLL, said, "The service of a new domestic drama on the FAST platform through the LG Channel is an important case that establishes a new turning point in content distribution methods. We hope that SLL's diverse content can closely connect with global viewers through the FAST platform beyond TV and OTT."
