"525 Seoul National University Professors and Researchers Join Political Declaration Calling for Yoon Seok-yeol's Resignation and Kim Geon-hee Special Investigation"

"Democracy Collapsing... Serious Regression and Backsliding"

Professors and researchers from Seoul National University, the alma mater of President Yoon Suk-yeol, held a political declaration urging President Yoon's resignation and a special investigation into First Lady Kim Geon-hee.

On the afternoon of the 28th, 525 professors and researchers from Seoul National University gathered at the auditorium of the Seoul National University Museum in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, to issue a political declaration. They stated, "The hall of intellect that led the democratization of Korean society, and the honorable traces of its history, cannot be found at all in President Yoon and the public officials he appointed," and shouted, "We, the professors and researchers of Seoul National University, call for the resignation of the Yoon administration with a sense of shame, apology, and deep sorrow toward the people and history."


They continued, "Since President Yoon's inauguration, there have been too many incidents that cannot be understood by the common sense of our society, and now these have become so commonplace that the people can no longer endure them," adding, "Democracy is collapsing, and regression and setbacks are severe in all areas including politics, society, economy, and culture."


Furthermore, they declared, "Now the people reject the president," and emphasized, "For the future of Korean society, his resignation is inevitable," and "A special investigation into the various suspicions surrounding Kim Geon-hee, the arbitrary abuse of power to cover them up, and the recent allegations of interference in candidate selection and state affairs manipulation will be the first step to restore the collapsing democracy."


In addition, through the political declaration, the professors and researchers criticized ▲ the medical crisis ▲ cuts in national research and development budgets ▲ the livelihood economy situation ▲ North Korean loudspeaker noise ▲ and diplomacy.
