Injury Caused by Obstruction of Special Official Duties
A man in his 20s who was driving under the influence and fled while dragging a police officer during a sobriety checkpoint in the early morning hours has been handed over to the prosecution.
On the 28th, the Seocho Police Station in Seoul announced that they had sent Mr. A, a man in his 20s, to the prosecution at the end of last month on charges including obstruction of official duties causing injury.
Mr. A is accused of injuring two police officers while fleeing a sobriety checkpoint on the road in front of Seoul St. Mary's Hospital in Seocho-gu, Seoul, at around 3:50 a.m. on October 2nd.
According to the police, Mr. A refused to get out of the vehicle when ordered, and when the police climbed onto the car hood to conduct a breathalyzer test, he attempted to flee as is.
Mr. A ran about 10 meters before crashing into three patrol cars that had been pre-positioned by the police in anticipation of his escape, and then stopped. During this incident, two police officers sustained injuries to their faces and knees and received treatment at a hospital.
Mr. A's blood alcohol concentration was found to be more than twice the license cancellation standard (0.08%).
