‘KIA Festa’ Free Tickets Priced at 400,000 Won?... Scalping on the Rise On a secondhand trading app, a baseball fan posted a photo of their waiting number at the time, saying they missed the ticket sale.

"I will buy Festa tickets no matter the price. Please."

The KIA Tigers, the 2024 KBO League overall champions, are holding the 'V12 Tigers Festa' for fans in their home city of Gwangju, but ticket scalping is rampant.

According to a compilation of reports from Asia Economy on the 28th, dozens of posts offering ticket transfers and sales have been appearing on online secondhand marketplaces and platforms.

One netizen wrote, "My son loves baseball, but as a high school senior, he couldn't enjoy this year's games." Other fans who missed out on ticket sales are pleading that seat location and price do not matter.

Among these, there were posts offering free tickets at prices ranging from 150,000 KRW up to 400,000 KRW. On X (formerly Twitter), posts also appeared saying, "Please inquire about service fees via DM or KakaoTalk open chat."

Earlier, KIA announced that on the 30th at 5 PM, they will hold the 'V12 Tigers Festa' at the Gwangju Kim Dae-jung Convention Center, inviting all players and 5,000 fans free of charge.

This event was organized to express gratitude from the KIA Tigers players who achieved the 2024 regular season and Korean Series overall championship to their fans. However, when ticket reservations opened at 11 AM on the 27th, seats sold out instantly.

Meanwhile, with the amendment to the Performance Act implemented in March, online illegal transactions may now be subject to punishment. Article 4 of the amended Performance Act stipulates that if someone uses macro programs to buy performance tickets and then resells them at a higher price through illegal transactions, they may face imprisonment of up to one year or a fine of up to 10 million KRW.

Accordingly, all 'scalped' ticket transactions, except for transfers without profit from tickets purchased through legitimate channels, are subject to legal penalties.

Additionally, during the first game of the recent Korean Series, Gwangju police caught a man in his 40s selling a 35,000 KRW ticket at 150,000 KRW at the entrance of Champions Field, charging him with a violation of the Minor Offenses Act and imposing a fine.
