The selected Excellent Employer for the Employment of Persons with Disabilities will maintain the qualification for the next three years, and Hyundai Green Food has been selected for three consecutive times including 2018 and 2021. Hyundai Green Food explained that it was highly evaluated for its high employment rate of persons with disabilities and efforts to improve working conditions. As of last month, Hyundai Green Food's employment rate of persons with disabilities is 4.5%, which is higher than the legal mandatory employment rate (3.1%). Currently, 159 workers with disabilities are working at Hyundai Green Food workplaces nationwide, of which 141 are severely disabled and 18 are mildly disabled.
In particular, Hyundai Green Food has been actively improving working conditions by operating the ‘Green Mate’ system since 2016 to develop jobs for workers with disabilities. The Green Mate system assigns dedicated mentors to workers with disabilities, provides customized coaching programs, and offers systematic support such as adjusting working hours according to individual disability characteristics. A Hyundai Green Food official said, "In addition to the existing system, this year we newly introduced a long-term service allowance system for workers with severe disabilities and expanded welfare programs such as quarterly awards for outstanding workers with disabilities."
The types of jobs for workers with disabilities are also diversifying. Previously, workers with disabilities mainly worked at nationwide group meal service sites and bakery manufacturing facilities, but from this year, the hiring scope is expanding to department store food courts and dining business sites. Recently, in cooperation with the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled, they have also been hiring caf? baristas, and it is expected that disabled baristas will be placed on site as early as the beginning of next year.
Park Hong-jin, CEO of Hyundai Green Food, said, "We will continue our efforts to fulfill the company's social responsibility by creating quality jobs for workers with disabilities and establishing a stable employment environment."
