Dentis Selected as Representative Technology at Korea Industrial Technology R&D Expo

Dentis (CEO Sim Gibong), an implant-based dental & medical solutions company, has been selected for the representative technology at the Korea Industrial Technology R&D Expo with its ‘AI (Artificial Intelligence)-based patient-customized 1Day dental clear aligner treatment platform technology.’ Dentis ranked 4th overall at this Industrial Technology R&D Expo, following Enchem, POSCO, and LG Display, and achieved the remarkable feat of receiving the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award as the representative technology in the advanced bio sector.

Hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by R&D institutions such as the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT), the Korea Energy Technology Evaluation Institute (KETEP), and the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT), the ‘2024 Industrial Technology R&D Expo’ is held annually to discover, promote, and disseminate government-supported industrial technology R&D achievements and to enhance public understanding. At this event, 10 national research and development projects with outstanding R&D results are selected.

Dentis’s AI-based patient-customized 1Day dental clear aligner treatment platform technology is a new technology completed after more than five years of research and development since 2019 as the lead organization, recognized for its core technology in the clear aligner field, as part of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s medical device advancement technology development project reflecting field demand. This technology was developed based on artificial intelligence to enable automatic diagnosis and patient-customized orthodontic treatment planning, with Dentis leading clinical application and commercialization. The company plans to commercialize this technology to lead the trend of digital dentistry in the domestic dental market.

Dentis, led by its clear aligner specialized subsidiary TNS, independently developed the software ‘SERAVIEW’ and ‘SERASETUP’ for orthodontic treatment diagnosis, planning, and device setup, as well as the new sheet material ‘MESHEET’ for manufacturing clear aligner devices. Following software and materials, Dentis has secured all three core technologies that determine the success of clear aligner treatment, including 3D printers, through its own technological capabilities.

Based on this, the company successfully launched Korea’s first digital clear aligner treatment platform and product brand ‘SERAFIN’ in 2021, establishing a strong market presence. SERAFIN is recognized as a representative Korean clear aligner brand, having obtained European CE certification and U.S. FDA approval. In particular, the new material MESHEET has been evaluated as a globally competitive domestic product, having acquired Japanese patent rights on the 5th, following FDA certification.

A Dentis representative stated, “We are pleased to have achieved 4th place and the Minister’s Award at this Industrial Technology R&D Expo, and we believe this once again confirms Dentis’s ‘national representative-level’ digital clear aligner technology capabilities.”

He added, “Dentis is expanding its market coverage through three businesses: dental implants, clear aligners, and surgical room solutions, and is pursuing a new growth strategy by creating new revenue models. Marking its 20th anniversary in 2025, the company will present a new brand message and innovative business models and will devote all efforts to achieving a quantum leap in performance.”
