Selected 10 Areas with High Care Demand or Insufficient Existing Facilities
Utilizing Public Facilities Near Residential Areas Expected to Fill Care Gaps
Ulsan City is about to launch the recruitment of facilities ahead of the full-scale implementation of the ‘Neulgyeotae (愛) Care Project’ aimed at addressing the care gap for elementary school students and young children.
This project is a new form of care support service that dispatches care personnel to public (shared) facilities near residential areas, such as village libraries and apartment community spaces, which residents can easily access, to provide care services for children.
In particular, 10 areas with a shortage of existing care facilities or high care demand from local residents have been selected for priority implementation.
The operation method is designed to be community-based. According to the legally defined standard of one person per 3.3㎡, the facilities will operate on a small scale to accommodate up to 10 children. Participating facilities will be assessed for suitability through on-site inspections, and selected facilities will recruit children aged 3 to 12 who require gap care.
Care personnel will be assigned from professionals such as childcare teachers, social workers, and experienced child caregivers to enhance the reliability and effectiveness of the service.
Especially during the winter vacation, when care demand is high, various special activities such as play and art will be supported to provide children with broad experiential opportunities.
The project is organized by the Ulsan City Childcare Comprehensive Support Center and operated using the budget designated for the pilot area of the Education Development Special Zone.
Eligible applicants are facilities with community spaces available for use, such as libraries and senior citizen centers within apartment management buildings, with priority given to areas without care facilities or facilities near overcrowded schools.
Applications can be submitted by representatives of public (shared) facilities by downloading the application form from the Ulsan City Childcare Comprehensive Support Center website and sending it via email. However, applications may close early depending on budget conditions.
An official from Ulsan City stated, “This Neulgyeotae (愛) Care Project is expected to effectively address the care gap for elementary school students and young children by actively utilizing spaces near residential areas to reduce the time lag between care demand and facility expansion.”
