Samsung Electronics Service announced on the 28th that it held the '2024 Service Technology Competition' for three days starting from the 26th at the Samsung Electronics CS Academy in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do.

This year's competition was held under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea, with the theme of 'Technology · Innovation · Future,' divided into the 'Repair Technology Competition' and 'Service Innovation Case Presentation' categories.

The 'Repair Technology Competition' evaluates whether engineers can quickly and accurately inspect products under the same conditions as when providing service to customers. Outstanding engineers representing about 300 service centers nationwide competed fiercely by inspecting various products such as smartphones, TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners within a set time. As Samsung Electronics' AI technology is applied not only to smartphones but also to home appliances, the evaluation reflected not only the ability to diagnose product failures and replace parts but also software diagnosis and utilization skills.

The 'Service Innovation Case Presentation' is a category where service engineers research and present equipment or technologies that improve the efficiency of product repairs. Excellent cases are applied in actual service sites to enhance customers' service experience.

An exhibition hall was also operated so that engineers participating in the competition could experience changes in service technology. The exhibition included spaces for virtual product inspection experiences using generative artificial intelligence (AI) and digital twin technology.

Thirty engineers who achieved excellent results in the competition will receive certificates, prize money, and personnel evaluation points. Among them, the top five scorers will be additionally awarded the Minister of Employment and Labor Award (2 people) and the Korea Association of the International Skills Olympics Chairman Award (3 people).

Kim Jong-geun, Executive Director of the Technical Support Team at Samsung Electronics Service, said, "As advanced technologies including AI are integrated into Samsung Electronics products, we will maximize the enhancement of engineers' technical expertise to further improve customer service satisfaction."
