On the 27th, Deputy Governor Oh Hu-seok held a residents' meeting at the Gyeonggi Future Education Paju Campus to encourage the residents and check the progress. About 20 people, including village residents and emergency situation room staff, attended the meeting.

Earlier, on October 23, Governor Kim Dong-yeon gave three immediate directives during a meeting with Daeseong-dong residents: ▲ installation of soundproof facilities in Daeseong-dong Village ▲ immediate deployment of two vehicles?a health checkup vehicle and a ‘Mind Relief Bus’ (for trauma examination and treatment) ▲ provision of a residents’ rest area and temporary lodging.

At that meeting, Governor Kim instructed, “Do not delay; start construction even tomorrow and complete it as soon as possible.” He also ordered Deputy Governor Oh Hu-seok to “set up an emergency situation room at Paju City Hall, stay on-site, and lead special judicial police officers to promptly resolve issues on the spot as we did today.”

Currently, Gyeonggi Province has completed the measurement and design of windows for 46 households in Daeseong-dong Village to reduce loudspeaker noise. The construction period is scheduled until December 27, with plans to finish all work promptly before then. Based on the measurement results, production of soundproof facilities has begun, and full-scale on-site construction will start on December 3.

In addition, to promote psychological stability and healing from hearing loss caused by loudspeaker noise from South Korea broadcasts, since October 24, the province has created four rest areas within Camp Greaves and deployed health checkup vehicles and Mind Relief Buses to provide medical services such as psychological counseling and hearing tests to 189 people.

For temporary lodging support, since October 24, 24 rooms have been rented at the Gyeonggi Future Education Paju Campus, with over 160 people having used them so far. Residents of Daeseong-dong Village who stayed in the temporary lodging, escaping the continuous day-and-night broadcasts, expressed their gratitude, saying they are gradually regaining stability thanks to Gyeonggi Province’s support.

A resident attending the meeting said, “We sincerely thank Gyeonggi Province for faithfully keeping promises such as installing soundproof windows, providing temporary housing, and psychological treatment,” adding, “When we were going through very difficult times, Governor Kim Dong-yeon’s support helped us find peace of mind.”

Gyeonggi Province expects that through this support project, Daeseong-dong Village residents will be able to live in a more stable environment, free from noise damage. The province also plans to enhance residents’ satisfaction and promptly resolve issues through continuous monitoring.

Deputy Governor Oh Hu-seok said, “Gyeonggi Province has indefinitely extended the ‘danger zones’ set in Paju, Gimpo, and Yeoncheon counties until the end of this month to prevent the distribution of leaflets to North Korea,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to resolve the suffering and inconvenience of residents, including the promised soundproof facilities.”
