Gwangju and Jeonnam are expected to experience chilly weather with alternating snow and rain showers continuing through the weekend.


According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on the 27th, the first snow fell in some areas including Mudeungsan in Gwangju and Jeonnam, and most areas experienced rain in the afternoon.


On the 28th, most areas in Gwangju and Jeonnam are expected to receive 5 to 20 mm of rain, with 1 to 5 cm of snow expected in the inland eastern part of Jeonnam. There may also be places along the west coast experiencing gusty winds accompanied by thunder and lightning.


The morning low temperatures are expected to be 2°C in Damyang, Suncheon, and Hwasun; 3°C in Gwangju, Naju, and Gwangyang; 4°C in Yeongam and Haenam; and 5°C in Wando, Muan, and Yeosu. The daytime highs will be slightly higher than the previous day, with 12°C in Wando; 11°C in Gwangyang and Haenam; 10°C in Gwangju, Naju, Damyang, Mokpo, Muan, Suncheon, Yeonggwang, and Yeongam; and 9°C in Hwasun.


Sea waves will be high, ranging from 1.0 to 4.0 meters in the West Sea coastal waters and 0.5 to 3.5 meters in the South Sea coastal waters. Fine dust levels are expected to be 'Good' in Gwangju and Jeonnam.


A representative from the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration advised, “Please check facilities and crops such as signboards, vinyl greenhouses, and fallen fruit in preparation for heavy snow and strong winds, and be cautious of traffic accidents and pedestrian safety accidents.”
