Official Statement Released on the 27th via Official Channel
"Regret the Harm Caused to Hani"
"Hope Belif Lab Shows Mutual Respect"
Adore, the agency of the group NewJeans, officially expressed its protest to Belief Lab, another HYBE-affiliated label, one day before the deadline for the certified mail response.
On the 27th, Adore stated in a position paper, “Belief Lab’s claims are completely different from the statements made by NewJeans member Hanni,” and added, “Hanni clearly remembers that on May 27, a member of Belief Lab made remarks to her along the lines of ‘ignore me’ or ‘just ignore and pass by.’”
They continued, “Adore and its members fully trust our artist’s words and sincerely regret the harm Hanni has suffered,” emphasizing, “We hope Belief Lab does not take Hanni’s damage lightly and shows mutual respect.”
They also added, “We ask that you demonstrate a sincere attitude to prevent unnecessary controversies involving Adore’s artists from continuing.”
At the beginning of the statement, Adore clarified that “this statement is a response to the actions required by the artist’s certified mail,” referring to the notice sent by NewJeans members on the 13th.
The deadline for responding to the certified mail sent by the members is until the 28th.
Adore explained the background of the announcement, saying, “We have maintained a cautious attitude so far, fearing that disputes over the facts might cause unnecessary controversies involving Adore’s artists,” and “Despite these efforts, the related controversy has not yet been resolved.”
Below is the full statement from Adore.
Hello, this is Adore.
On October 7, 2024, Belief Lab released a statement regarding the ‘manager ignoring remarks’ through the Belief Lab X account and ‘Notice.’ Adore has maintained a cautious stance so far, concerned that disputes over the facts might cause unnecessary controversies involving Adore’s artists. However, despite these efforts, the related controversy has not been resolved, so we are now clarifying Adore’s position.
Belief Lab’s claims are completely different from the testimony of NewJeans member Hanni. Hanni clearly remembers that on May 27, 2024, a member of Belief Lab made remarks to her along the lines of ‘ignore me’ or ‘just ignore and pass by.’ Moreover, expecting Hanni to recall every detail of a relatively brief incident in order to raise an issue is an excessively harsh and strict standard for the victim. Adore and its members fully trust our artist’s words and sincerely regret the harm Hanni has suffered.
We hope Belief Lab does not take Hanni’s damage lightly and shows mutual respect, and that you demonstrate a sincere attitude to prevent unnecessary controversies involving Adore’s artists from continuing.
