This lecture was held to promote humanities culture with the goal of creating a refined humanities city, inviting neuroscientist Dr. Jang Dong-seon to speak on the theme "Happiness is in the Brain, How to Find Happiness While Working."

Dr. Jang Dong-seon, CEO of the Curious Brain Research Institute, is an authority in the field of neuroscience. He has authored numerous books including "How AI is Changing the World," "Teenagers, Science Your Future!," "The Brain Wants to Dance," and "Habits for a Younger Brain." Additionally, he has gained public attention by delivering neuroscience topics in an easy and entertaining manner on various broadcasting programs.

Dr. Jang introduced the differences among key brain hormones secreted when happy, such as dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins, and engagingly explained topics like the five love languages and addiction issues through research cases from various experts, eliciting empathy from the audience.

In particular, he emphasized the three core desires that make people feel happiness: autonomy, competence, and relatedness, delivering the message that "happiness in the brain is something we create together," providing the audience with an opportunity to reflect on their own happiness.

Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, "As part of the 2024 Pocheon Humanities Academy project, we have invited experts from various fields such as communication specialist Kim Chang-ok and mental health specialist Yang Jae-jin, continuing lectures aimed at enhancing citizens' humanities literacy and quality of life. We plan to prepare diverse lectures in 2025 as well to continue the humanities lectures." He added, "I hope many citizens encounter humanities in their daily lives and find greater happiness."
