Increased Convenience for Citizens' Lives through Replacement of Aging Road Name Signs
Yeoju City in Gyeonggi Province maintained and repaired 316 damaged and aging road nameplates this year to improve the convenience and safety of road use. Road nameplates are facilities installed at intersections, streetlights, and utility poles to help drivers and pedestrians find their way. Out of a total of 3,980 road nameplates in Yeoju, 316 were replaced this time.
Yeoju City conducts an annual comprehensive survey of address information facilities to inspect their condition and repair damaged or missing facilities. This effort is part of measures to prevent safety accidents caused by falling objects and to promote the use of road name addresses.
Citizens have responded positively, saying that the replacement of road nameplates has made it easier to confirm addresses and has improved navigation for external visitors.
An official from Yeoju City stated, “This road nameplate replacement work was a necessary measure not only to promote the use of road name addresses but also to ensure citizen safety. We will continue to do our best in managing road nameplates through ongoing inspections and maintenance.”
