This volunteer service was the third medical volunteer activity conducted this year under the agreement between Seoul Asan Medical Center and Pocheon City, organized to provide professional medical services to the residents of Hwacheon-myeon.
On that day, about 60 elderly residents of Hwacheon-myeon visited for medical examinations. The medical staff from Seoul Asan Medical Center carefully checked the residents' health conditions and provided various medical services including basic health checks, X-ray imaging, customized medical consultations, and prescription of medications.
In particular, this volunteer service was the first medical volunteer activity held at Hwacheon Health Center, which opened in October, serving as an opportunity to inform Hwacheon-myeon residents about the functions of the health center and promote its utilization. Hwacheon Health Center is expected to fulfill its role as a regional hub responsible for residents' health going forward.
Pocheon City plans to continue conducting medical volunteer services next year in cooperation with Seoul Asan Medical Center, targeting 3 to 4 selected medically underserved areas within the city.
Jung Jin-cheol, Acting Director of Pocheon City Health Center, said, “Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the medical staff from Pocheon City Health Center and Seoul Asan Medical Center, we were able to provide essential medical services to the residents of Hwacheon-myeon,” adding, “Next year, we will expand medical volunteer services and health promotion projects to do our best to improve the health and quality of life of residents in medically underserved areas.”
