The Changwon District Prosecutors' Office in Gyeongnam conducted a search and seizure at the People Power Party headquarters on the morning of the 27th in connection with allegations of interference in the nomination process involving Myung Taekyun.
At around 9:30 a.m. that day, prosecutors visited the People Power Party headquarters in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, and carried out a search and seizure targeting the party's Planning and Organization Bureau for about an hour and a half.
In the afternoon, it was reported that the Planning and Coordination Bureau of the People Power Party within the National Assembly Members' Office Building was also scheduled to be searched.
The prosecutors are currently investigating former People Power Party lawmaker Kim Youngseon and Myung Taekyun, who have been detained on charges including violations of the Political Funds Act.
The search and seizure on this day were reportedly aimed at securing nomination-related materials for the 21st National Assembly by-elections and the 22nd National Assembly general election constituencies, related to the nomination interference allegations involving the two individuals.
