Opening of Suncheon Robot Education Science Museum on the 30th
Multi-type Robot Exhibition, Experience, and Education Space
Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Kwan-gyu) announced on the 27th that it will hold the opening event of the Suncheon Robot Education Science Center on the 29th and 30th.
The Suncheon Robot Education Science Center was established by remodeling an existing building after Suncheon City was selected for the 2024 Large-scale Convergence Robot Demonstration Project organized by the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement. It is a space where anyone can experience and receive education on multi-type robots based on care and collaborative robots.

Before the opening of the Suncheon Robot Education Science Center, the city will conduct a pre-experience session on the 29th for people with disabilities and the elderly who are interested in robots. This pre-experience, part of the regulatory innovation robot demonstration project for socially vulnerable groups (developmental disabilities), provides priority experience opportunities for people with disabilities, the elderly, and their guardians.
On the 30th, the official opening of the Suncheon Robot Education Science Center will take place along with a robot experience event open to all citizens interested in robots. There will be no separate opening ceremony, but a special program featuring a lecture titled "Would You Like to Make a Robot Storybook with Me?" using generative AI, which was popular during the previous robot camp, will be held.
During the two-day event, in addition to tours and experiences at the Suncheon Robot Education Science Center, there will be magic shows, stamp tours, and experiences with 4th industrial technologies (drones, VR, metaverse, autonomous vehicles, PM). Robot companies that participated in the business agreement for fostering the robot industry in Suncheon City last July will also join, creating a rich event.
The Suncheon Robot Education Science Center is open for free tours and experiences from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and every Saturday, various educational programs combining robots and Suncheon City's advanced industries are regularly operated.
A city official said, "The Suncheon Robot Education Science Center is a space focused on providing citizen convenience services using robots and is the only place in the Honam region to provide information on robot-related jobs and career paths," adding, "Suncheon City will lay the foundation for nurturing robot talent."
