Cheongsong-gun Implements Comprehensive Winter Road Snow Removal Measures

Winter Traffic Accident Prevention

Challenge to Achieve Zero Safety Incidents

Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, has prepared a comprehensive winter road snow removal plan for the 2024-2025 winter season to prepare for heavy snowfall and cold waves, and will actively implement snow and ice removal measures from December 1 to March 15 of next year.

The county proactively secured snow removal agents (calcium chloride, eco-friendly deicers, sand, salt, etc.) and deployed 12,500 bags of ice-melting agents along 16 vulnerable routes, including habitual freezing sections. Additionally, pre-inspections were conducted on three brine spraying facilities (Deokcheon District, Pinamujae, Cheoncheon District) and equipment to be used for snow removal operations (15 snow removal vehicles, 50 tractors, snow shovels, sand spreaders, etc.), completing preparations for snow removal work.

Furthermore, upon issuance of a preliminary snowfall advisory, the county plans to establish a systematic and prompt response system in cooperation with related organizations, prioritizing snow removal operations on major roads and high-traffic sections such as mountain passes (curvy roads). In particular, they aim to lead efforts to prevent traffic accidents caused by black ice during winter and achieve zero safety accidents.

County Governor Yoon Kyung-hee stated, “As heavy snowfall due to abnormal weather is expected this winter, please refrain from driving as much as possible during snowfall, and we will promote rapid road snow removal operations to minimize inconvenience to residents.”
