Dong-Eui University of Science, Digitech High Vocational Education Capstone Competition Held

Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President Kim Young-do) held the ‘DigiTech Higher Vocational Education Capstone Competition’ on the 22nd at the university’s Jinri Hall Convention Hall, with approximately 154 students participating.

Organized by the DigiTech Higher Vocational Education Council (Chairperson Kim Kyung-hwa), this competition was designed to enhance students’ creative problem-solving skills and job performance abilities through collaboration. A total of 40 teams participated, with four representative teams from each of the 10 universities.

The ‘DigiTech Higher Vocational Education Council’ is a consortium of leading engineering colleges nationwide, established to jointly respond and cooperate in the face of challenges in the engineering field caused by declining school-age populations and rapid changes in the educational environment due to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, aiming to strengthen the competitiveness of engineering-related colleges across the country.

At the competition, 10 experts from various fields, including Korea Electric Power Corporation, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, and HD Hyundai Infracore, served as judges and comprehensively evaluated creativity, technical skills, artistic quality, and presentation skills.

Since its launch in December 2021, the DigiTech Higher Vocational Education Council currently includes 10 specialized colleges nationwide: Gyeongnam Information University, Dongyang Mirae University, Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, Daelim University, Ajou Motor College, Yeonsung University, Yeungnam College of Science & Technology, Ulsan College, Inha Technical College, and Chosun College of Science & Technology. Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President Kim Young-do) serves as the chair institution overseeing the council.

President Kim Young-do of Dong-Eui Institute of Technology stated, “The 10 leading engineering colleges representing the nation have held the Capstone Design Competition annually to promote the development and revitalization of engineering vocational education, and this year marks the third competition. To cultivate specialized engineering personnel who play a key role in national and local industrial sites, the 10 member universities will unite their efforts to strengthen students’ practical skills in their majors and contribute to local communities through mutual growth and collaboration, making every effort by pooling the strengths of the universities.”

The DigiTech Higher Vocational Education Council has established a cooperative system among member universities to carry out various shared and collaborative activities aimed at driving the mutual growth of engineering colleges. These include proposing policies and conducting research to discover new growth engines for becoming world-class engineering colleges, deriving joint programs and credit sharing through financial support projects, and jointly hosting forums on the outcomes of shared engineering vocational education models, as well as sharing university achievements.
