Assemblyman Seo proposed the special act, which includes designating the area around the Aerospace Agency headquarters as an investment promotion district, providing tax support, and improving living conditions to develop it into an aerospace complex city.
This special act was proposed on May 13 but has been pending since August 21 after being referred to the National Assembly Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee.
Participants in the walking contest walked a round-trip course of 4.4 km, starting from the Sacheon Cable Car Natural Recreation Forest, passing through various mountain watchtowers, and returning, praying for the passage of the special act.
In particular, the event incorporated plogging?picking up various types of litter discarded on the streets?combining environmental protection activities with walking, adding significance to the contest.
Chairman Hwang Taebu said, “Businesspeople united with one heart and mind for the passage of the aerospace complex city special act, which concerns the future of our region,” adding, “It was a meaningful event that conveyed the region’s hopes for the passage of the special act while also practicing the social value of environmental protection.”
Mayor Park Dongsik emphasized, “The Aerospace Complex City Special Act is a key bill for Sacheon to leap forward as the center city of South Korea’s aerospace industry,” and stated, “We will do our best to ensure the special act is passed promptly.”
Meanwhile, the Sacheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry holds the walking contest annually, leading efforts to foster camaraderie among local businesspeople and build consensus on regional issues.
