Woori Green Science Registers Patent for Composite Liposome Manufacturing

Functional ingredient specialist company Woori Green Science announced on the 27th that it has acquired a patent (Patent No.: 10-2023-0099787) for the "Method for Manufacturing Liposomes Containing Vitamins and Minerals."

Liposome technology is a technique that stably encapsulates active ingredients to enhance absorption in the body. Previously, it was produced by applying only one ingredient, but the method developed by Woori Green Science can formulate vitamins and minerals together.

The new patented technology improves the solubility of poorly soluble iron and can manufacture complex nutritional components containing various vitamins and minerals along with vitamin C, providing a solution to nutrient absorption issues, the company explained.

Woori Green Science’s liposome manufacturing method generates fine and uniform particles through two rounds of ultrasonic high-pressure homogenization processes, maximizing stability and absorption. It features the capability to combine various nutrients such as vitamins A, B complex, D, E, K, and minerals like chromium, zinc, and manganese.

With the population ratio of those aged 65 and over expected to exceed 20% by 2025, rapidly entering an aging society, issues such as weakened digestive function and decreased nutrient absorption ability are emerging, making the elderly more vulnerable to health risks related to nutrient deficiencies.

Liposomes utilize nanotechnology to maximize the bioavailability of supplements, raising expectations that they can effectively improve nutrient absorption rates in the elderly.
