Pukyong National University Wins 'Best Award' at K7U-Belt Startup Idea Competition

Participation of Excellent Startup Clubs from 7 National Universities Nationwide

The student team from National Pukyong National University, consisting of Kim Min-ki (3rd year, Control and Instrumentation Engineering), Yoo Kyung-min (2nd year, Computer Engineering), Hwang Soo-bin (2nd year, Environmental Engineering), Choi Hyo-jung (3rd year, Environmental Engineering), and Lee Hye-min (2nd year, International Business), won the Grand Prize with their project titled ‘Andamiro, the Golden Time Response Oil Spill Containment Robot’.

The team that won the Grand Prize from National Pukyong National University proposed an idea for a buoy-based oil fence deployment robot that can respond quickly and effectively within the golden time of an oil spill accident to reduce secondary damage, earning high praise.

The competition, held on November 21 at National Hanbat University, was jointly organized by seven national universities nationwide?including National Pukyong National University, National Gunsan University, National Kumoh National Institute of Technology, Seoul National University of Science and Technology, National Changwon University, National Korea National University of Transportation, and National Hanbat University?to promote startup clubs and expand startup communities.

Each of the seven universities selected two teams through their own preliminary rounds, and a total of 14 teams competed in the final round through presentations.

Following the Grand Prize, National Pukyong National University also received the Encouragement Award with a joint student team of Jeong Min-young (2nd year, Business Administration, National Pukyong National University), Kim Min-seo (2nd year, Pre-Medicine, Gyeongsang National University), and Lee Sang-hyeop (3rd year, IT Convergence, University of Ulsan) for their project ‘Hangukji, a GPS-based Mobile Game to Solve Regional Extinction Issues’.

Ryu Ji-yeol, head of the LINC 3.0 Project Group at National Pukyong National University, said, “Through the shared collaboration of the nationwide alliance of national small and strong universities, K7U-Belt, we aim not only to enhance industry-academia cooperation but also to establish a startup club network. We plan to further expand support for excellent startup activation in connection with local governments in the future.”
