JYP Hosts Charity Basketball Tournament to Support Medical Expenses for Children from Vulnerable Groups

JYP Entertainment is stepping up to support medical expenses for children from vulnerable groups through a charity basketball tournament.

JYP announced on the 27th that it will hold the amateur charity basketball tournament 'JYP Basketball Tournament (JYPBT)' over four days: November 30 to December 1 and December 7 to 8, at Yonsei University Gymnasium in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul.

A total of 27 teams from domestic basketball clubs, including 'Owls', 'Black Label', 'J-Crew', and 'BPM', will participate in JYPBT. Notably, Park Jin-young, JYP’s CEO and producer, will personally join as a player on the BPM team.

On the final day, December 8, various events will take place. The 'JYP Challenge' will be held, where artists and basketball players form teams to shoot from various positions within a set time, and donations will be made in the name of the team with the highest score. Additionally, a 5-on-5 match between celebrities, including producer Park, Jung Jin-woon, Kim Tae-woo, Yoo Hee-kwan, and professional players will be held.

All participation fees from the teams in the charity basketball tournament will be fully donated to cover medical expenses for children from vulnerable groups through Samsung Medical Center. JYP also plans to contribute additional donations to participate in social contributions.

Wilson, the official provider of NBA basketballs, will serve as the official sponsor of the tournament, supporting official balls, souvenirs, team uniforms, and making donations.

The tournament will be free to watch at Yonsei University Gymnasium. The finals and event matches will be broadcast live on the official JYPBT YouTube channel. The live commentary will be provided by basketball commentators Jo Hyun-il, Kim Eun-hye, Jung Yong-gum, Kim Il-du, and Han Jang-hee.
