Paju-si Awarded Excellent Institution for 6 Consecutive Years in 'Creating a Clean Gyeonggi' Initiative

Paju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 27th that it was selected as an excellent institution in the ‘2024 Clean Gyeonggi Making’ city and county evaluation conducted by Gyeonggi Province to create a clean and pleasant street environment and reduce the amount of household waste, securing 100 million KRW in project funds.

Starting with being selected as the best institution in 2019, Paju City has been recognized as excellent for six consecutive years, receiving the highest rating in 2020 and excellent ratings in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, securing a total of 700 million KRW in project funds.


The ‘2024 Clean Gyeonggi Making’ excellent institution selection evaluated 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province based on 14 quantitative evaluation fields such as reducing household waste generation, strengthening crackdowns and publicity to prevent illegal activities, and qualitative evaluation on the promotion of special policies by cities and counties to reduce household waste.


Paju City ranked 3rd in quantitative evaluation indicators including ▲promotion of regulations on single-use products ▲maintenance of household waste collection facilities ▲performance of separate collection of transparent PET bottles in detached houses ▲management performance of public sorting centers for construction site household waste ▲operation of road observation system and mobile disposal team for prompt waste processing ▲activation of the Happy Breath Adoption Project. Additionally, by continuously implementing various policies to reduce single-use products and discovering differentiated policies for creating a carbon-neutral city, Paju ranked 3rd in the qualitative evaluation, ultimately earning the honor of being selected 2nd in Group B.


Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City said, “We will continue to promote and discover various policies to reduce household waste generation and make continuous efforts to respond to the climate crisis and realize a carbon-neutral city, Paju.”
