A heartwarming story has been shared about a middle-aged woman who collapsed due to hypoglycemia in the middle of Seoul and recovered her health thanks to candy bought by a police officer.

On the 26th, a video titled "Police Officer Runs to Buy Candy, Saves Life of Hypoglycemic Patient" was uploaded on the YouTube channel 'Seoul Police.' According to the video, on the 18th, a middle-aged woman standing dazed on a street in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, staggered as if feeling unwell and then suddenly sat down on the ground. Concerned citizens approached to help, but the collapsed woman was unable to communicate. Eventually, after a citizen's report, a police officer from Baeksan Police Substation of Geumcheon Police Station was dispatched.

Upon arrival, the officer tried to communicate to check the woman's condition, but she only repeated, "I have to go home." While searching for contact information on her phone, the officer found three missed calls from her grandson. After speaking with the grandson, it was confirmed that the woman had a history of hypoglycemia. When in a hypoglycemic state, it is essential to consume sweets or other sources of sugar to replenish blood sugar levels. Otherwise, it can lead to fainting, coma, brain damage, or even death.

Knowing this, the officer immediately ran to a nearby unmanned store. The officer bought candy to raise her blood sugar and gave it to the woman. Fortunately, after eating the candy, the woman stabilized and was transported to a hospital where she received treatment and recovered her health.

Netizens who heard the story responded warmly with comments such as "Amazing quick thinking by the police officer," "The police are so reliable," "That officer deserves an award," "Honestly, there’s no police like ours anywhere else," "A touching story," "The police officer is awesome," and "The citizens who reported immediately are also amazing."

Meanwhile, in cases of severe hypoglycemia, it is advisable to go to the emergency room. When blood sugar drops below 30 mg/dL, symptoms such as decreased consciousness, seizures, and coma may occur, and in severe cases, it can lead to death. At this stage, consuming sweets is not recommended due to the risk of airway obstruction and choking. Immediate hospital visit and receiving a glucose injection are necessary.
