Enhancing Hyundai E&C Brand Value Through Cultural and Arts Support Programs
Hyundai Construction is engaging in activities that add artistic value to residential spaces. By placing artworks within residential complexes, they plan to enhance residents' satisfaction and provide special experiences in daily life. On the 27th, Hyundai Construction announced that it held the 'S.H.A.A Public Art Competition Awards Ceremony' on the 19th at the Seoul National University Auditorium.
This competition is an industry-academia collaboration project jointly hosted by Hyundai Construction and the Seoul National University Institute of Culture and Arts. It was planned to discover creative ideas from young artists and to add artistic value to residential spaces.
The inaugural 'S.H.A.A' this year invited works in various genres such as painting, sculpture, crafts, furniture, and media from Seoul National University students. Starting with the signing of the industry-academia cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Hyundai Construction and Seoul National University in May, the first round of judging took place in July, followed by the final judging in October to select the winning works.
The grand prize was awarded to artist Han Seung-yeop's 'LINK.' The sculptural work 'LINK' connects three cubes like a chain, symbolizing challenge, solidarity, and comfort. In particular, the creativity of the technique that realized lightweight cube forms using solid metal materials was highly praised.
The excellence awards went to Kim Tae-hoon's 'N Worlds' and Kim Euijin's 'FLOW-CYCLE,' while the merit awards were given to Moon Ji-hyun's 'Immersive Sensory Manifesto for the City' and Choi Il-jun's 'The Low Voices of the Land and Us,' respectively.
The awards ceremony was attended by Lee In-gi, Head of Architecture and Housing Design at Hyundai Construction, and Lee Joongsik, Chairman of the Seoul National University Culture and Arts Committee, who personally presented the certificates. Prize money of 5 million KRW for the grand prize, 3 million KRW for the excellence awards, and 1 million KRW for the merit awards will be given to the winners.
The five winning works will be exhibited in the sky lounge, landscaping spaces, and tea house of 'Olympic Park Foreon,' scheduled for occupancy at the end of November. Through the artworks displayed in the residential spaces, residents will have opportunities to experience culture and arts in their daily lives.
